Susan R. Abert
Susan R. Abert has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of estate
planning, estate and trust administration, elder law, and special needs planning in the Monadnock Region. In 2010, she joined Attorney John Norton to establish Norton & Abert, P.C. in Keene, New Hampshire (now known as Norton, Abert & Jordan, P.C.), after practicing at other law firms. Susan is the Monadnock Region’s only Certified Elder Law Attorney, a national recognition from the National Elder Law Foundation accepted by the American Bar Association.
Susan is a member and Past President of the New Hampshire Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), from which she has
received the Chapter Member of the Year award, as well as the Ann N. Butenhof Award for outstanding service to Chapter. Attorney Abert is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Probate Law Section.
Susan is a frequent speaker in the Monadnock Region and state-wide on legal topics such as estate planning and elder law, and has presented at Continuing Legal Education programs through the New Hampshire Bar Association and the New Hampshire Chapter of NAELA. She is a former member and Chairperson of the Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Board of Trustees, and has also served on the Boards of Directors of Home Health Care, Hospice & Community Services, and MoCo Arts in Keene, New Hampshire. She is a member of the Keene Elm City Rotary Club.
Susan received her B.A. from the University of Virginia College of Arts & Sciences, and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is licensed in New Hampshire, New York, and Illinois, but limits her practice to New Hampshire.
Michael T. Jordan
Michael T. Jordan joined the firm in July 2018, after moving to the Monadnock Region. Mike began practicing law in 2007, focusing on estate planning, business formation, and estate and trust administration. He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Probate Law Section. He works with legal clients to develop a comprehensive, individualized estate plan, with the personal wishes and needs of each client in mind.
Mike is experienced in advising Executors and Trustees on the processes of estate and trust administration, and on the responsibilities each role entails. He will guide clients step by step throughout the entire administration and will represent them in court if needed. Attorney Jordan also advises beneficiaries of an estate or trust on their rights.
Mike is pleased to serve our community as a board member of MoCo Arts in Keene, New Hampshire.
Mike is licensed to practice law in California, Maryland, and New Hampshire. He is a graduate of West Virginia University College of Arts & Sciences (with honors), and the University of Maryland School of Law.
John C. Norton
John C. Norton retired in September of 2017. He began practicing law in Keene, New Hampshire in 1976, and was a long-time member of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s
Ethics Committee. John was a member of the New Hampshire Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Probate Section, and was a member and Chair of the New Hampshire Bar Association Pro Bono Referral Service. John served our community in a variety of ways and also served our country as an Air Force JAG before entering private practice.
